E-mail - “Important”

Do you have a folder/label for your e-mail named “Important”? Where you just archive things away for rare use in the future. I do, and it is starting to worry me! (more…)

Facebook = Awesome

I have never really been big on social networks. I’ll have account here and there, maybe play about on them for a week or two, then my interest drops and it becomes outdated. Take my myspace for example, it still says I am 18 despite being 19 since February and I have no plans on updating it. But what if I had a basic profile that is easy to update, and has the option of bringing more of my content in from other places… (more…)

CBS Acquires Last.fm

UK Lagging in Tech

I was reading the blog of Christopher Hamilton, via zen habits, and came across a post about the lack of major UK tech businesses. Noting last.fm (which is really the only one I can think of that is doing something big), it’s got me wondering why we don’t have anything that really stands out. As I said in my comment, there’s plenty of interest, with web development, pc repair/custom building and such all over the place, so why are none of them doing anything cool? (more…)

The Golden Compass

Wow, I only just found out about it from Sasha, but apparently there is a movie adaptation of “Northern Lights” by Philip Pullman (known as “The Golden Compass” in the US). It’s slotted for a Decemeber 2007 release, and it looks pretty good. Some of the characters don’t seem quite as I had imagined them, but I suppose it’s been a while since I read it. I’m re-reading it now to remind myself. (more…)

Digg API Contest Finalists

First off, I am pretty disappointed with what was shown. Only three of them I thought were nice and only one of them I thought had something really good going. Brian Shaler’s work has been nice though. I had hoped more interesting ideas would have been submitted but oh well, guess that’s the way things go. I can’t talk, not like I submitted anything! Realistic Bart Simpson

When I first saw this picture, it creeped the hell out of me.

Bart Real

Jump over to TechEBlog for a video of the process, as well as a quick shot of the whole Simpson family!

Pacman’s Skull

So several blogs have posted about this already, but I thought I’d share it here as well! Created by Le Gentil Garcon, along with Francois Escuilie in 2002 (Why is this only surfacing now?), it’s pretty much a study of skulls to create a realistic version of what Pacman’s skull would be like.

Introducing, Pacman’s Skull:

Douglas Crockford on JavaScript

Douglas Crockford, a senior JavaScript architect for Yahoo, did some excellent presentations on JavaScript. They are not only good for those learning the language but those who think they already do (trust me, you’re likely to learn quite a bit from this man). There’s no embed for this but you can find the videos on 101out.com or over on YUI Theater.

I highly recommend these videos. You can also download the slides and if you scroll to the bottom of the 101out.com page you can find a link to Advanced JavaScript videos. If you want more I suggest jumping over to Wrrrld Wide Web, Douglas Crockford’s own site which has more on JavaScript, as well as other topics and links.

Via: Brian Shaler

If anyone has any other JavaScript resources, please let me know as I am keen to learn more about it than I currently do.

Lifehacking and Chuck Norris

I’ve been reading lots of productivity blogs (such as Lifehacker and Zen Habits) and it’s made me realize how much I can get done just by tweaking the way I live, how I tackle things, as well as how I can define my goals and achive them. So, I have decided that, the day after my last exam, things will change… (more…)
